I remember in Spanish class about a million years ago thinking about the way they use reflexive verbs. In English, we might say, “I touch my nose.” In Spanish, the equivalent phrase, literally translated, would come out more like, “I touch myself on the nose.” In English, our body is our possession first, our self second. In Spanish, the body is our self first, our possession second.
